My Personal Weight Loss Story

My personal weight loss story

I don’t know if you know my personal weight loss story, but there was a time in my life where I hated the way I felt, and worse, I hated the way I looked.

I was 20lbs overweight and lived on the diet rollercoaster for a 10-year span when I was in my late teens through my late 20’s.

Dieting to lose the weight and then thinking I was somehow Teflon to calories when I stopped the diet. So of course, I always gained the weight back.

I didn’t know it then, but I had what I term today, ‘The Dieter’s Mentality’.

I was a miserable human when I felt fat. I would stay home by myself at night when I hated the way my clothes looked on me.

To this day, I never forget that sinking feeling.

I never forget this feeling because it is important to me to never feel that way again by my own doing. I look back and realized it was the choices I was making that led to my weight gain.

I never ever forget where I never want to go back to…feeling terrible in my own skin.

Food is just food. It’s not special and it’s not leaving the planet.

I don’t ‘treat’ or ‘reward’ myself with food. I deserve SO MUCH MORE than just food.

This is why mindset work is SO important to lose weight and keep it off.

This is why, as a weight loss coach, I chose to focus on helping people change what the REAL issue is when it comes to losing and re-gaining weight. Because of my personal weight loss story, I know that it’s what actually works.

Everyone thinks they have to change everything they eat or deny themselves any food that is deemed ‘unhealthy’ to lose weight.

That’s the fastest way to weight loss failure. If you’re a yo-yo dieter, just look back at your history to determine if that’s true for you.

I have a healthy relationship with food and I practice what I preach.

I teach my clients how to have a healthy relationship with food so they can lose weight without feeling deprived.

It may take longer, but you have lasting results. Isn’t that worth your time?

Here is a photo of me in my 20’s when I struggled with my weight and a photo of me now at 58 years old.

I drink wine, I go out for dinner, I eat some bread and indulge in something sweet now and again.

Food doesn’t rule my world but it’s part of it.

I know I can eat whatever I want if choose to but as I said earlier, I never forget where I never want to go back to.

Feeling good in my body is more important to me. It makes each day that I wake up that much easier.

I like feeling great when I get dressed to go out and not feeling the angst of what to wear.

I know this is how you want to feel too. And the fact is, you can.

How can you get to feel that way?

Stay connected to what’s MORE important to you than food, especially crappy, unhealthy, processed food.

I know we need food to live, BUT you don’t want to live to eat.

Life is too short to not live everyday feeling like the best version of YOU.

Slow and steady wins this race. This may be feel more boring that some quick weight loss fix, but it will get you off the diet rollercoaster for good and that makes it SO worth it.
