My clients call me because they are tired of struggling with fad, short-term diets and gaining and losing the same weight year after year. They realize it’s time to try a different approach to weight loss.
My coaching takes a 2-tier approach. I focus on creating a realistic way of eating that’s do-able and sustainable. I focus on behavior, habit change and mindset change as well as changing ones relationship with food and eating. For most, this is the missing piece to the weight loss puzzle.
Some of the best things my clients say to me that warms my heart are, “I don’t feel like I am on a diet” and “I hear your voice in my head.”
One of my clients asked me to write a list of some of my Lisa-ism’s, or mindset reminders for weight loss, that she can keep on her fridge and in her office and I wanted to share them with you.
Below are my top 10 daily reminders for weight loss to help you on your journey.
1) AM I HUNGRY? – If you’re not, find something else to do other than eat. The calories your body isn’t hungry for will result in weight gain or lack of weight loss.
2) IT’S JUST ONLY’s – The little bites you take and wonder why you are not losing weight. Too many of these small bites turn into many calories by weeks’ end. They do make a difference.
3) MAKE A PLAN – If you fail to plan you plan to fail. Plan ahead and avoid food disasters.
4) SLOW DOWN – Eat slowly and notice when you are content vs too full. You can always eat more. You can’t un-eat.
5) BE MINDFUL – Every time you eat you make a choice. Choose something that makes you feel good both physically and emotionally. Why choose something you KNOW isn’t good for you and will ultimately make you feel bad?
6) SELF-SABOTAGE – Get in touch with your “rabbit hole voice”. Is it telling you the truth? Or is it telling you to eat something that you will only regret 5 minutes later.
7) TABLE IT – Sit at a table and eat. Eat mindfully and taste your food.
8) DON’T GIVE YOUR POWER AWAY – Take back the power from food. It’s just food. It won’t change your day or your life for more than the 30 seconds it’s in your mouth.
9) THE BIG PICTURE – Remember your BIG PICTURE and long-term outcomes. What will really make you happy??? Eating the cookies or losing the weight? And do you really only deserve some unhealthy food choice…I think not.
10) SELF-CARE – Practice it even if it feels selfish. You will show up better for yourself and everyone in your life. Make YOU and what you need a priority.
