As we get into the cooler weather months we tend to want warm food and heartier meals. It’s during these months that we tend to add a few more pounds and inches to our waistlines.
This happens because we spend more time indoors, we wear bigger and baggier clothing and because tend to consume more heartier and heavier food when it’s cold outside.
Not to mention we have the holidays starting at Halloween and going straight through the New Year. For some, these 8 weeks could wreak havoc on the scale. Especially for those that throw in the towel over the holidays because they are, once again, starting a diet in the New Year.
But you don’t have to gain any weight in the winter due to any of the above reasons.
Here are some tips to avoid winter weight gain.
- Stay mindful about your food choices.
- Stay connected to what you say you want. Connect your brain and your belly when you eat. This will help you stop when you are content vs. overfull.
- Eat only when you are physically hungry.
- Make sure you get out and move. Bundle up and go for a walk.
- Don’t use food & eating as an activity.
- See your body as the vehicle that takes you through your life and treat it as such.
